We provide ASA certifications to our students
It depends upon the course you select with GoBaja Sailing School. We will provide some or all the course levels of ASA Certification like
· ASA 101 (Basic Keel-boat Sailing)
Here you can learn to skipper a 20’-27 sloop-rigged keel-boat by day, in light to moderate winds, and sea conditions. Here you can also learn basic sailing terminology, parts and its functions, helm commands, basic sail trim, points of sail, buoyage, seamanship and safety including basic navigation rules to avoid risks like collisions and hazards.
· ASA 103 (Basic Coastal Cruising)
In this basic coastal cruising you will learn to skipper a sloop-rigged auxiliary powered 25’-35’ keel-boat by day in moderate winds and all type of sea conditions. Here you will learn cruising sailboat terminology, basic boat systems, auxiliary engine operation, docking procedures, intermediate sail trim, navigation rules, basic coastal navigation, anchoring, weather, safety and seamanship.
· ASA 104 (Bare-boat Crushing)
With ASA 104, learn to sail a sloop-rigged, auxiliary powered 30’-45’ sailboard during a multi-day cruise upon inland or coastal waters in moderate or in heavy winds and all types of sea conditions. You will about provisioning, boat systems, auxiliary engines, advanced sail trim, coastal navigation, anchoring or mooring, docking, emergency operations, weather, and a lot more.
ASA sailing in Baja has set some requirements for each of the levels which also include a written and practical test. And along with these set of basic requirements, there are some of the other requirements that you cannot see until you are at ASA106 that is, Advanced Coastal Cruising.
Sailing certified courses, and education is extremely essential if you want to be professional sailor, and even if you want to enjoy sailing for the rest of your life. But remember, along with theoretical explanations, it is also important to have practical education. So, after the completion of your theoretical education, it is highly advisable that you also opt for the practical ones.
